Paintings

This current selection of paintings is informed by Middle European Gothic –Medieval and German expressionism which emphasizes intense personal expression. With emotional directness these painting explore the experience of death, loss, grief and spiritual isolation. The abandoned soul, in the form of a spirit child, emerges from a death catharsis and begins to search over land and sea, sky and time, for reconnection, aided by the memory of loved ones. This archetypal inner psychic  journey  is expressed through metaphor, colour and texture. The medium of oil allows for a bold, colourful, fluid approach juxtaposed with subtle nuances of colour and tone.
